Handcrafted Designs from the Delicate to the Bold

The name grapefruit first appeared in English in 1814 in a work by botanist John Lunan. While the name apparently arose because the fruit initially grows in grape-like clusters, Lunan stated that it was ‘known by the name of grape-fruit, on account of its resemblance in flavor to the grape’. The grapefruit was brought to Florida by Odette Philippe in 1823. Further crosses have produced the tangelo, the minneola and the sweetie. While the average grapefruit measures 4″-6″ in diameter and can be somewhat weighty, our fun earrings are much smaller and lighter.
