Surprisingly, cotton candy was invented by a dentistÂ, William Morrison, with the help of confectioner John C. Wharton in 1897. The sweet treat came to the attention of the public in 1904 at the St. Louis World’s Fair. These lighter-than-air, whimsical earrings certainly remind us of cotton candy, or the fanciful work of an abstract artist.
