Onyx is a variety of quartz closely allied to agate, often displaying parallel bands and varying degrees of translucency. It is, quite simply, a beautiful gemstone. These beads are cut in a graceful swirl reminiscent of a calla lily, open in the back as seen in the third photo. Elegant and classy earrings indeed.
