The Balloon Dog is a series of sculptures by American artist Jeff Koons, who created versions in blue, magenta, yellow, orange and red. In 2013, his orange Balloon Dog sculpture sold at Christie’s for $58.4 million — the fourth most expensive work sold by a living artist at auction as of 2023. Art lovers looked on in horror on 2/19/2023, when a visitor at a Miami art show accidentally knocked a $42,000 blue balloon dog sculpture to the ground, shattering it into tiny shards.
